MASC remembers 9-year-old Christina-Taylor Green after the tragedies in Tucson, Arizona Saturday. Christina, a 3rd grader at Mesa Verde Elementary School in Tucson, had recently been elected Student Council President. She attended the political event with a neighbor, due to her interest in public service and serving her community. Thoughts and prayers from MASC go out to Christina and her family and all affected in Tucson Saturday.

Not sure I like the new logo.  I still like seeing the word "Starbucks".  It's not invasive but still puts the name in front of people.

'Coffee' Dropped From New Starbucks Logo

  Starbucks Corp. on Wednesday unveiled a new logo as it gets ready to celebrate its 40th anniversary and focuses on becoming more of a consumer packaged goods company.
  The Seattle-based coffee giant, during a webcast meeting with baristas, showed off a new, simpler logo that does not include the green circle that says "Starbucks coffee." The mermaid that existed within that circle now appears larger.

  The updated logo reflects the company's new emphasis on selling Starbucks-brand products in supermarkets and other channels beyond its retail stores.
  "Even though we have been and always will be a coffee company and retailer, it's possible we'll have other products with our name on it and no coffee in it," Chief Executive Howard Schultz said, adding that any non-coffee products it sells will adhere to the same standards it applies to its coffee. "We're not going to put our name on things that dilute the quality of Starbucks."
